(LINCOLN, NE) -- A federal list naming more than 500 “sanctuary jurisdictions” has been removed from the Department of Homeland Security’s website.
The list, published Thursday, included 10 Nebraska counties and drew responses from some local officials. In an internal email obtained by 10/11 NOW, a North Platte-based ICE officer described local cooperation with immigration enforcement as “basically unprecedented.” DHS had stated that jurisdictions would be formally notified about their inclusion and any potential concerns regarding compliance with federal statutes.
By Sunday, the list was no longer accessible online, returning a “Page Not Found” message. DHS has not issued a statement explaining the removal.
