(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines University acquires new cutting edge technology.
DMU now has a portable 3-D motion capture laboratory. The state-of-the-art lab is the only one of its kind in the Des Moines area. The equipment includes 16 movement sensors, muscle activity senors, and pressure detection. The lab's portability allows therapists to monitor movement from anywhere. It will also improve DMU's programs in physical therapy and sports performance, as well as research and education.
The portable motion capture lab was made possible due to a donation from Andy and Katie Snook of West Des Moines, whose son worked with doctors from DMU after suffering an elbow injury while playing on the West Des Moines Valley baseball team.
