(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Public Library is beginning its Summer Reading Challenge this weekend.
Starting on Saturday, June 7th, those up to age 18 can enter the challenge any time until Saturday, August 2nd at all six Des Moines Public Library locations or online. Participants will receive a reading log, and after reading for 20 minutes per day, attending a library program, or complete one of the library's literary activities, they'll be able to advance. The Summer Reading Challenge is for those up to 18 years old, and those who sign up will receive a free book. Those who participate will also be registered to win prizes.
The Central Library in downtown Des Moines will host an event to kickoff the Summer Reading Challenge on Saturday, June 7th from 10am-noon. There's also a challenge for adults as well called Camp Read S'more available during the same time frame.
