(Rock Island, IL) -- The Rock Island Arsenal Museum is facing closure.
The U.S. Army Center of Military History is planning to reduce the number of Army museums from 29 to 12 over the next four years due to maintenance backlogs and insufficient staffing.
The Arsenal Museum is on the closure list.
If the plan is approved, the Arsenal's artifacts would be transferred to another museum or go into storage.
