A Des Moines man dies from his injuries in an apartment fire this week.
Des Moines Fire and Police crews responded to the building on 57th street early Tuesday morning, not far from Douglas Avenue and Merle Hay Mall.
Firefighters found 63-year-old William Melroy within his apartment while fighting the fire. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and later flown to University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center's Burn unit. He died overnight.
Des Moines Police say preliminary evidence indicates the fire was not intentionally started.
