Several Pedestrians Injured in Crashes During Storms in Des Moines

(Des Moines, IA) — There were seven crashes in a two-hour period in Des Moines during the storms on Thursday that injured several pedestrians.

Des Moines Police say one involved a car hitting a bicyclist on East 24th and Jefferson Avenue. The cyclist was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A separate crash at 6th and Cherry Streets seriously injured another bicyclist. He was also transported to an area hospital for treatment. The truck involved fled the scene.

A man and his teenage son were hit by a car in the 2800 block of Forest Avenue. Both were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but the driver was not hurt.

Police say investigations into all the crashes are underway.
