(Des Moines, IA) -- A Des Moines man has been arrested in connection with an improvised explosive device (IED) found at Waveland Golf Course on Thursday.
Des Moines Police say 41-year-old Michael Valento was taken into custody early Friday morning following the execution of a search warrant at his residence. Investigators believe Valento detonated a pipe bomb-style IED on the golf course on July 3. A second device was discovered by golfers on Thursday and was safely detonated by the bomb squad.
Valento faces multiple charges, including:
- Possession of an Explosive or Incendiary Device with Intent
- Arson
- Dominion or Control of a Firearm/Offensive Weapon by a Domestic Abuse Offender
The investigation remains ongoing.
