(Des Moines, IA) -- This morning, hot air balloons floated over the Des Moines metro area to give residents a sneak peek of the upcoming National Balloon Classic.
Metro residents could spot several hot air balloons during their Monday morning commutes. The National Balloon Classic says the balloon flight over Des Moines is meant to bring the magic of the event to Iowa's capital.
The annual National Balloon Classic in Indianola kicks off next Friday, July 25, and runs through August 2. Over 100 hot air balloons will be featured at this year’s event. There will also be drone shows, live music, pilot performances, and more.
Tickets start at $12 if purchased in advance. Tickets bought at the gate are $15. VIP passes are also available for purchase.
Participants can also purchase hot air balloon rides, available each morning and evening (weather permitting), but tickets are selling out fast.
More information is available on the National Balloon Classic Website.
