(Algona, IA) -- A wanted man on the run using a fake name was found working on an Iowa road construction project.
The Kossuth County Sheriff's Office says an investigation found that a fugitive who had used multiple fake names to avoid law enforcement for years was working road construction in northern Iowa. During a traffic stop, deputies confirmed the identify of the fugitive as 34 year-old William O'Bryant Thompson. Investigators say there were multiple controlled substances found in the vehicle. He was taken into custody and faces multiple charges. He'll eventually be extradited to Virginia where he has numerous outstanding arrest warrants.
In Kossuth County, he's charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance, 1st offense
- Possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), 3rd or subsequent offense
- Operating a vehicle without a valid license
