Ankeny Police have arrested two people in connection to a violent home invasion earlier this month.
Police say officers responded to a home in Northwest Ankeny for a reported burglary on July 1. An elderly victim was found suffering from injuries and several items were stolen from the home.
After an investigation, police located and arrested 27-year-old Gemiere Cortez Goodwin at a smoke and vape store in Des Moines.
He had the burglary victim's gun in his pocket, and an Ankeny detective and Des Moines Police Officer suffered minor injuries during the arrest.
The second suspect, 45-year-old Merrelita Kintz, was arrested on Tuesday.
Both are booked in the Polk County Jail and face several charges, including attempted murder.
