(Newton, IA) -- A plan to transform the historic Maytag Plant One site in Newton into a multi-use public space connecting the Newton DMACC Campus to downtown Newton is entering its second phase.
The DMACC Newton Campus Legacy Plaza Greenspace Project is now in its second phase, which will include construction of a multi-use pavilion for concerts, festivals, and educational events as well as canopy and shade structures to help the site be useable year-round. The project has already raised $2.3 million dollars, and Newton community leaders Chris and Denise Vernon will match new or increased donations to the project two-fold through November 15th.
