(Atlantic, IA) -- An 8-year old child from Atlantic was hit by a Suburban on Monday and flown to the hospital. The Iowa State Patrol crash report says the child was hit after running out into the street in front of an SUV traveling on West 6th Street in Atlantic.
The youth, whose injuries are described as serious, was flown to Methodist Children's Hospital in Des Moines. Their current condition is unknown.
The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate.
