(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa is now virtually drought-free thanks to record amounts of rainfall last month.

The U.S. Drought Monitor shows just 1% of Iowa with abnormally dry conditions--just Wapello County, parts of Monroe and Davis Counties, and the southwest corner of the state.

That number was 45% at the end of June.

Parts of the state saw over 9-inches of rain last month, making it the second-wettest July in over 150 years of records.
