(Rock Island, IL) -- Rock Island City Council is voting to dump its sprinkler requirements.
Until last night, Rock Island was the only municipality in the QCA to require new homes be equipped with fire suppression sprinkler systems.
Opponents say the move jeopardizes public safety.
Advocates hope it spurs new housing development.
