A two-month old victim in a child endangerment and abuse case in Grimes has died.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office made the announcement Tuesday morning, almost two weeks after deputies responded to the 600 block of NE Jacob Street in Grimes to assist with an infant who wasn't breathing.

The child was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Dylan James Brown was arrested and faces several charges in this case, including:

  • One count Felony Child Endangerment - Serious Injury
  • One count Felony Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Air/Blood Flow
  • Two counts Felony Willful Injury - Causing serious injury

The Sheriff's Office says this is still an active investigation, and they will be working with the Polk County Attorney's Office to possibly enhance charges.
