Des Moines, IA) -- Pastors and schools in Iowa are being urged to remain vigilant following the shootings at in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
The Des Moines Catholic Diocese says the shootings that killed two children and injured 17 people of defy explanation and are a reflection of evil.
The Diocese is also reminding Iowans to use the Safe and Sound Program to anonymously report threats of school violence.
Over 800 tips have been received since the program was made available in 2023.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is ordering all flags to be lowered to half-staff until sunset on August 31st to honor the victims of the deadly shooting.
Iowans, businesses, and statewide counties are encouraged to participate to show respect. President Trump also issued a nationwide proclamation for federal buildings and facilities.
