(Aledo, IL) -- Mercer County School District officials say staff access to medical history kept as part of student records is common and legal in Illinois.

The District made the statement after a superintendent and two employees made their first court appearance yesterday on charges of illegally accessing student medical records.

Court documents accuse superintendent Tim Farquer of requesting vaccination records from a school nurse and sharing them with others.
