(Altoona, IA) -- A man is charged with first degree arson after a fire at the Altoona Walmart Thursday night. Altoona fire crews and support crews from nearby cities were called to the store on report of large flames coming from a bathroom at the back of the store. The fire spread to surrounding merchandise displays before the sprinkler system was triggered and put the fire out.
The entire store was filled with thick smoke, and remains closed today.
Witnesses say they saw police arrest the suspect across the street from Walmart. 41-year-old Jack Cedeno is being held in the Polk County Jail. Bail is set at $30,000 dollars.
