(Omaha, NE) -- A University of Nebraska regent faced a direct, public call for her resignation Friday from the father of three children injured in a crash she is charged in.
During the public comment period of a Board of Regents meeting in Omaha, Ricoh Mountain confronted Regent Elizabeth O'Connor over a May collision that led to her DUI charge. Mountain questioned whether O'Connor received preferential treatment, noting it took two months for charges to be filed.
O'Connor, 34, has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of DUI causing serious bodily injury. According to court documents, her blood-alcohol level was recorded at more than four times the legal limit.
The incident has also prompted some state lawmakers to explore impeachment proceedings against the regent.
