(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A Linn County man is facing an attempted murder charge following a road rage incident on Sunday afternoon and is now being held on $500,000 cash bond.
According to a criminal complaint, Brent Wallenmeyer, 30, of Anamosa used a machete to swing at cars on Highway 1 near Mount Vernon. Court documents allege he attempted to carjack a female driver and cut her with the dull side of the weapon.
Wallenmeyer is also accused of causing thousands of dollars in damage to another property by ramming vehicles and an outbuilding.
The complaint states he also allegedly ran at a responding police officer with the machete, resisted arrest, and admitted to using methamphetamine.
Wallenmeyer now faces multiple charges including attempted murder, first-degree robbery, and OWI.
