(Boone, IA) -- The Boone County Sheriff's Office is warning of jury duty scam. The office posted a scam alert on their Facebook page. Investigators says scammers call claiming you missed jury duty — even if you never received a jury duty notice. Next they'll say there's a warrant for your arrest. The caller will tell you the only way to avoid arrest is to pay a fine over the phone. You may also be threatened with jail time. The sheriff's office says they will never call and demand payment, or threaten arrest by phone for missed jury duty. If you get one of these calls, hang up and let police know.
