(Des Moines, IA) -- A Runnells man has been sentenced to up to 50 years in prison for the shooting death of his cousin.

In June 2024, police found 50-year-old Richard Selby dead in his bed with multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators say 37-year-old Jacob Harbold, who was living with the Selbys at the time, was later found in possession of a firearm that matched the weapon used in the murder.

Harbold pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and must serve a minimum of 35 years in prison before becoming eligible for parole.
