Douglas County Sheriff Responds To Increased Gang Concerns

(Omaha, NE) -- The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says during a traffic stop for a license plate violation at Wenninghoff Road and State Street, a probable cause search of the vehicle turned up weapons.

Investigators say a defaced Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun was located in the driver's seat and a loaded pistol was under the passenger seat.

The Sheriff's Office says all four occupants, an adult and three juveniles, were arrested, and three of them are known gang members.

The Sheriff says the Special Operations Group and Road Patrol are giving increased attention to that area of northwest Metro Omaha with increased community concerns over gang activity in the Irvington area.
