(Iowa) -- The Iowa Economic Development Authority is awarding nearly $500,000 in grant funds for projects in 16 Iowa communities.
The $490,000 in Empower Rural Iowa Grants will go to projects designed to expand available housing, support increases in child care services, and boost local economic growth.
Six communities received $50,000 dollar grants:
- Fairfield
- Keosauqua
- Red Oak
- Decorah
- Kalona
- Spencer
$20,000 grants were awarded to:
- Forest City
- Imogene
- Lake Mills
- Manchester
- West Burlington
- Adair
- Lake Park
- Oskaloosa
- Clarion
The city of Manning received a $10,000 grant. Empower Rural Iowa Grants are limited to communities with fewer than 20,000 residents that are not adjacent to a community of 40,000 or more residents.
