(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Another Cedar Rapids Community School District bond referendum has failed.

The $117-million bond issue needed 60% support to pass and unofficially received 59.2% at the polls yesterday.

That's a shortfall of about 200 votes.

The funds would have upgraded McKinley and Roosevelt Middle Schools while turning Wilson Middle into an elementary school.

Kennedy High School’s cafeteria and freshman wing would have received upgrades too.

A $220-million bond issue failed two years ago.
