(Adel, IA) -- For the second time, Dallas County voters rejected a $60.3 million bond measure.

Without the funding, plans for the new criminal court building in Adel are now on hold.

That means the county will continue operating out of the courthouse built over 120 years ago.

County officials have said there are security risks, outdated systems and lack of space.

When the courthouse was built in 1902, the population of Dallas County was around 23-thousand. Now it's closer to 116-thousand.
