(Davenport, IA) -- Drivers are already commenting on social media about traffic backups due to a major change to a downtown Davenport street.
Third Street between Marquette and River Drive in Davenport is now a two-way street for the first time in 50 years.
The road is striped for one lane of traffic in each direction with a center turn lane.
Some people posted on social media yesterday about lineups at traffic lights in the reduced single lane as crews worked on the change.
The city says the 14-millon dollar conversion of Third and Fourth to two-way streets will improve traffic flow downtown.
The conversion of Fourth Street is scheduled for next year.
