Omaha Pursuit Ends With Teen's Arrest

The Nebraska State Patrol says Troopers arrest a teen and recover a stolen vehicle after a pursuit in Omaha.

Midday Wednesday, a trooper saw a Jeep Cherokee that had been reported stolen.

Troopers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle in a parking lot near 30th and Ames Avenue.

The NSP says the driver of the stolen car accelerated and fled out of the lot with Troopers pursuing it for several blocks before the driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot.

After about 30 seconds, the troopers were able to catch up with the subject and take him into custody.

The Patrol says the driver, a 17-year-old male from Omaha, was taken to the Douglas County Youth Center for theft by unlawful taking ($5,000+), flight to avoid arrest, obstructing a peace officer, possession of marijuana – less than one ounce, and no operator’s license.

The driver also had multiple warrants from Sarpy County.
