The University of Iowa Hawkeyes faced a tough loss against the Oregon Ducks, falling 18-16 on Saturday (November 8) at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. The sixth-ranked Ducks secured the win with a last-minute 39-yard field goal by Atticus Sappington, who went three-for-three on field goals during the game.

Oregon's offense was driven by a strong ground game, amassing 261 rushing yards, which proved crucial in the rainy conditions. Running back Noah Whittington led the charge with 118 yards. Despite a challenging day for Oregon's quarterback, Dante Moore, he completed a critical 54-yard drive in the final moments to set up the game-winning kick.

Iowa's defense, ranked fourth nationally, held the Ducks to 3-for-10 on third downs and limited their passing game. However, the Hawkeyes struggled to contain Oregon's rushing attack. Iowa quarterback Mark Gronowski led a 12-play, 93-yard drive late in the fourth quarter, scoring a touchdown to give Iowa a brief 16-15 lead. The Hawkeyes' two-point conversion attempt failed, leaving them vulnerable to Oregon's final drive.

The loss was a setback for Iowa's College Football Playoff hopes. Meanwhile, the victory bolstered Oregon's playoff aspirations and extended their road winning streak to 11 games. Next, Iowa will travel to Southern California.
