Husker Maxwell Award Semifinalist

A Nebraska football player having a big year continues to position himself for big postseason awards.

Running Back Emmett Johnson Tuesday was named one of 13 semifinalists for the Maxwell Award.

The Maxwell Award is presented by the Maxwell Football Club to the Collegiate Player of the Year.

Johnson, who is now in the Heisman discussion, ranks second nationally in rushing yards with 1,131, while leading the nation with 1,431 yards from scrimmage.

Johnson seeks to join legendary 1983 Heisman winner Mike Rozier as Nebraska’s second Maxwell Award winner.

Of the 13 semifinalists, Johnson and Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love are the only two running backs on the Maxwell list.
