(West Des Moines, IA) -- A comment made by a student at a West Des Moines elementary school sparked a police investigation this (Wednesday) morning, but no credible threat was found.

West Des Moines Police Sergeant Dan Wade says extra officers were at the school out of an abundance of caution.

He says the school district notified parents of students who attend Westridge Elementary about the details of the investigation.

Wade adds West Des Moines Police are committed to keeping the schools safe.
