(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Enrollment in Cedar Rapids public schools is down.

The Community School District says enrollment dropped 4.27% percent this year compared to last year, but remains above the ten-year low in 2021-22.

District leaders say enrollment is up at new and renovated elementary schools, and declining at their middle schools.

Board President Cindy Garlock says the District will take another run at getting a school improvement bond approved by voters.

A $117-million bond to upgrade the District's middle schools failed at the polls earlier this month.
