(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa is one of 25 states asking the U.S. Supreme Court to issue a stay against climate-related rules for companies doing business in California.

The rules require companies of a certain size that do any business in California to disclose their stance on climate change, and provide detailed emissions reports for their suppliers and customers too.

The states opposing the rules say they would have a negative and costly impact on businesses across the nation.

They're looking for an injunction to stop the law from going into effect January 1st.
