(Iowa City, IA) -- The man who fled to Jordan with the help of his parents to avoid prosecution on attempted murder charges will learn his fate next week.

Ali Younes is accused of robbing and trying to kill a 63-year-old woman on the University of Iowa campus three years ago.

Sixth Judicial District Judge Kevin McKeever will announce his verdict next Friday after a two-day bench trial that was held in July.

Younes is also expected to plead and be sentenced on charges of escaping custody next month.

Both of his parents were convicted of helping him flea, and served prison terms before receiving early parole last year.
