(Iowa) -- New research shows a strong housing in Iowa market in the 3rd quarter of this year.
A new report from the Common Sense Institute of Iowa analyzed several aspects of the state's housing market, including housing affordability, property taxes, and housing supply. The report compares all 50 states and Washington, D.C. and finds that Iowa has the 8th most affordable housing market in the country factoring only the cost of a new mortgage and the 11th most affordable relative to resident's income.
Iowa has the 10th highest property taxes in the country when compared to total monthly home costs at 18.9%. Research also finds that Iowa is on track to eliminate its housing shortage by 2028.
