(Iowa City, IA) -- Four University of Iowa students who had their student visas canceled last spring are settling their lawsuit with the Department of Homeland Security.

The four students—two from China and two from India, including a graduate working for the state, were flagged under a Student Crime Alien Initiative, despite having nonviolent offenses such as OWI or driving without a license.

As part of the agreement, ICE is reactivating the students’ visas and agreeing the incident won’t affect their ability to apply for citizenship.
