(Des Moines, IA) -- Bitterly cold temperatures will hit the Iowa Friday night, ushering in another two to four inches of snow on Saturday morning. There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Northwest, Central and Southeast Iowa from midnight Friday through 3:00 pm Saturday.

"Low temperatures on Saturday night, we're looking at single digits below zero to even the teens below zero in Northern Iowa. Of course, that is going to result in wind chills that will be quite cold, in the teens to twenty below zero," said National Weather Service Meteorologist Dylan Dodson.

Dodson says daytime highs on Sunday will only reach single digits. However, he adds Iowans will get a welcome reprieve from the cold next week, when highs will be in the 30's and even 40's.

While it seems the snow just keeps coming this year in Central Iowa, there's been a lot more this time of year.

Dodson says just over 14-inches of snow has fallen in the Des Moines metro as of Friday, which is well below the record of 21-pioint-3 inches recorded in 1997.

Through Friday, Waterloo has received just over 18-inches. The most snow Waterloo has received by December 12, was just over 21 inches of snow in 1977.
