(Moline, IL) -- Illinois Governor JB Pritzker will sign a bill providing funding for Amtrak service from the Quad Cities to Chicago today.

The monies are part of the Northern Illinois Transit Authority Act that will merge Chicago's CTA, Metra and Pace into a single entity.

The $1.5-billion bill will be funded from gas taxes and Illinois Tollway revenues.

An agreement with Iowa Interstate Railroad for track access remains the final hurdle for getting Amtrak service from downtown Moline to Chicago.
