(Des Moines, IA) -- A West Des Moines hot sauce company is suing after bottles of its salsa reportedly exploded.

Lola’s Fine Hot Sauce, which started as a farmers market stand, claims a Canadian manufacturer, Eco‑Ideas, failed to properly prepare its salsa. According to the lawsuit, that caused bottles to bubble, ferment, and even burst, forcing Lola’s to pull products from shelves and absorb what they say were hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses.

The suit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.

Lola’s sells its hot sauce and salsa nationwide and is seeking $700,000 in damages.

Eco‑Ideas has not yet responded to the lawsuit.
