(Iowa) -- A new study shows most Iowans say major sporting events bring people together.
Betting.net asked sports fans across the country if sporting events like the Winter Olympic Games and the Super Bowl help unite people. In Iowa, 95% of fans say major sporting events bring people together despite their political differences. 91% say they are proud to support American teams or athletes. 73% say they feel a stronger sense of unity during big sporting events than on national holidays. However, there is a limit to "Iowa nice" - 82% of Iowans say they've insulted people over sports, and 46% of Iowans say they occasionally avoid talking about sports to prevent conflict.
