(Des Moines, IA ) -- Des Moines Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting connected to a series of Facebook Marketplace cell phone thefts.
Des Moines Police say officers were attempting to arrest a suspect tied to the thefts when the individual ran and jumped into the passenger side of a waiting vehicle. The 17-year-old driver then sped off, hitting one officer with their car and narrowly missing the other.
An officer fired one shot at the suspects during the incident.
The officer who was hit suffered minor injuries. No one else was injured.
Both suspects are now in custody.
