(Iowa) -- A new voter registration initiative is hoping to increase participation among Iowa's young voters.
The Iowa Secretary of State's Office and representatives from Iowa's colleges and universities are launching the Catt Collegiate Challenge, named after suffrage leader and Charles City, Iowa native Carrie Chapman Catt. The program will host voter registration drives at at post-secondary institutions across the state. Participating schools will track and report voter registration and participation with cooperation from third-party organizations.
At the program's launch, 11 Iowa schools have agreed to participate in the program. Organizations that report high voter registration and participation will be recognized with an award from Secretary of State Paul Pate at the annual Voter Engagement Summit in Des Moines on April 9th.
