(Iowa) -- An Iowa House bill making elective abortions a crime is likely done for the year.
The Iowa Legislature’s website says a subcommittee hearing on House File 2332 that was scheduled for this morning has been cancelled. The bill would have banned all abortions in the state and made it a crime for doctors to perform the procedure.
The bill’s lead sponsor, Newton Republican Representative Jon Dunwell, says on social media that the bill isn’t going to happen this year, as it does not have enough support from the GOP caucus to pass.
