(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The mayor of Cedar Rapids is speaking out against the latest plan by the Cedar Rapids Community School District to reduce their budget.

The latest proposal to address a $10-million shortfall would be to cut staff at Washington High School.

Mayor Tiffany O'Donnell says students shouldn't be left with fewer options, or be forced to rely on surrounding academies to meet graduation requirements.

The school board hopes to land on a final plan to balance the budget in April.
