(Johnston, IA) -- A Johnston woman is facing charges after police found more than 30 sick cats in her home.

Officers did an animal-welfare check back in December of 2025 and discovered 34 cats, many of them dealing with health problems like upper-respiratory infections, fleas, ear mites, and dental issues.

35-year-old Claire Faalk is charged with several counts, including four counts of animal neglect causing serious injury or death.

The cats were taken to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, where they’re getting treatment.
