(Des Moines, IA) -- Police have released more details about last week’s officer-involved shooting in Des Moines.
Officers were called to 1914 Carpenter Avenue after multiple 911 callers reported that a security guard had been stabbed.
When officers arrived, staff directed them to 24-year-old Hunter Munoz, who was outside the building holding a knife.
Police say officers gave commands and deployed a Taser, but Munoz continued moving toward them. Two officers then opened fire. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
The injured security guard was also taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
