(Iowa) -- Iowans looking to learn how to go turkey hunting can register for workshops from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources that will be offered throughout the state starting in March.
The DNR will offer turkey hunting workshops at locations across Iowa. The workshops will focus on teaching skills including basic turkey hunting strategies, how to field dress a turkey, firearm safety, hunting locations, and recipes for how to cook turkey. Jamie Cook, Hunter Education Coordinator with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the workshops are for Iowans interested in the challenge of wild turkey hunting:
"The goal is to bring people together who have little turkey hunting experience, or none at all, and give them a chance to learn about it and get them confident enough to maybe try it on their own this spring."
The locations that will be offering turkey hunting workshops include:
- Council Bluffs
- Indianola
- Massena
- Marble Rock
- Sioux City
- Solon
- Vinton
The workshops will be offered from mid-March through early April, and early registration is encouraged. More information, including cost, location, and how to register is available on the Iowa Department of Natural Resources website.
