(Grimes, IA) -- The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect after a young girl escaped an attempted abduction in Grimes.

Deputies say she was walking with her bike when a man in his mid‑40s pulled up beside her in a black SUV. He offered to “fix her bike,” and when she refused, he tried to grab her and pull her into his vehicle.

The girl managed to break free, ran home, and called 911.

The suspect is described as a white man with brown hair and a beard, wearing a Bass Pro hat, a black jacket, and a camo‑colored shirt. He is also missing a front tooth.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Polk County Sheriff’s Office
