(Des Moines, Iowa) -- A crash involving a stolen car is slowing traffic in downtown Des Moines.

Police say the vehicle was stolen just moments before the crash. The driver then rolled the car and hit a utility pole at Southeast 14th Street and Maury Street.

Officers say the driver tried to run from the crash but was quickly arrested.

Several lanes are closed while crews work to clear the area, and law enforcement is working to reopen traffic.
