(Des Moines, IA) -- The Greater Des Moines Partnership is hosting a new series to help employers reach even more job seekers.
The three-part Employer Skills-Based Hiring Series will help employers and recruiters think differently about where to look for qualified job candidates. Participants can attend three in-person sessions where they'll be encouraged to re-think where to look for qualified candidates and consider industries they might not have otherwise.
Stacy Robles, Inclusive Talent Program Manager with The Greater Des Moines Partnership says those recruiters and employers who attend will be, "able to identify what other industries also have people working in that industry that have those exact skills that they need, that maybe they just don't realize either correlate with their industry maybe don't correlate at all, but skills are there and are transferrable to that specific industry."
The three sessions will take place every other week according to the following schedule and will focus on specific topics:
- Tuesday, April 21 | 8:30 a.m. - Noon - Understanding skills-based hiring and building effective job descriptions
- Tuesday, May 5 | 8:30 a.m. - Noon - Sourcing, screening and selecting candidates
- Tuesday, May 19 | 8:30 a.m. - Noon - Supporting employee development and sustaining long-term workforce strategies
Registration is now open at The Greater Des Moines Partnership website.
